The Design and Invitation Creation Process:
Design/Consultation:
The first step in the design process is to meet and understand each client’s needs through an individualized consultation. This is your opportunity to see samples of my work, ask questions, and lay down the basic ”bones” of what your desired invitation will look like. This is when I spend time getting to know you, your style, and the theme or style for your event or wedding. This is brainstorming time and any details that you can provide are great: some people bring pages from magazines, some bring specific quotes or cloth samples, and others just tell me about their relationship. Whatever you bring to the consultation is wonderful and every little detail helps! I will discuss possibilities and ideas with you and if, at the end of the meeting, you feel that I understand your vision, and then I will continue the process by creating several samples for you to look at. For my out of town clients, need no’t worry, this entire process can be done via email and USPS as well.
There is a one-time non-refundable design retainer of 10% of your expected project or a minimum of a standard $50.00 for the design process following our initial meeting; this basically covers any sample papers and the initial design time necessary to create the project. The design retainer covers the amount of time from the initial meeting through the entirety of the design process, up until the actual production begins and returns to the client as a deposit towards the total cost of the invitation/stationery project.
Finalizing the Product:
Once you have had the opportunity to look over the samples and review the quote prices, we will get back together and discuss and identify any changes you want to make the invitation look as you wish. After we discuss your comments, the changes are made and a revised version will be submitted: we may have several meetings before we complete the final draft. That is completely normal and expected. After all, I want this to be perfect and am willing to design and redesign until a solution can be decided upon. When a final draft is completed, you will review and confirm that every detail is perfect and that all spelling and grammar is as you wish. You will then sign off on the final version; once you have officially signed off on the final draft, 1st Impressions Invitations is not responsible for any mistakes or future changes.
Printing and Production:

After your approval, the product goes to print and production begins. 1st Impressions Invitations will keep you abreast of the process and schedule, as the project proceeds. As soon as the project is completed, the invitations will be handed off to you, or in the event of your use of my addressing options, I am more than happy to mail the invitations for you and save you the trip to the post office.
