What 1st Impressions Invitations is doing to be more Environmentally Aware: 

 

I have recently found several paper companies that carry post-consumer products for paper, card stock, and envelopes. Everyday, the selection gets greater in color and style!

 

In an effort to be environmentally aware, I try and be as environmentally sound as possible in my own work:

 

I reuse shipping boxes and packaging materials for all my out-of-town clients.

The paper companies that I buy from are part of the  SFI: Sustainable Forestry Initiative  that promotes sustainable forest management, including measures to protect water quality, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, species at risk, and forests with exceptional conservation value. I try to avoid creating trash as much as possible: I reuse as much paper scrap as possible in the design process, purposely design so that every bit of paper bought gets used and not wasted, and encourage my clients to avoid excess by not using two sets of envelopes on their invitations, using postcards for their RSVP, whenever possible (however, as a side note, sometimes the postcards get lost in the mail; unfortunately, enveloped RSVP are still the safest bet) and am willing to create a page for them on my website for information, so that we don't need to send out additional maps, directions, and or guest information guides inside of the invitations.

In addition, all of my tiny bits and scraps of paper left over from my projects and kept and given to local artisans who reuse the paper to make pulp for handmade paper.
